I AM Welcome Mat
I AM Welcome Mat
Yarn on welcome mat
23.5 x 35 inches

Artist: Greta Grip
Location: Three Tarts (Centretown)

A welcome mat covered in knitting that reads I AM, with holes, loose strands of yarns and glitches throughout. I AM Welcome Mat is about presenting and allowing oneself to be just as you are. As you stand on the mat you are welcomed, accepted, and acknowledged. When placed in the entrance of a door, I AM will slowly fade, become dirty, the knitting will undo itself, and eventually the text will disappear. As people repeatedly stand and walk on the mat their presence will have left a mark, eventually I AM will be a mess of intertwined yarn.
