Family Gathering is the recreation of a visual memory, of piles of shoes, taken off and placed on welcome mats at crowded family gatherings during holiday seasons in the artist’s home country, Turkey. Cutouts from a tapestry are placed inside the shoes, referencing the geographical visual culture.
